Capri Global Capital Ltd (MMFSL) - Q1 Result

Financial Results & Limited Review for June 30, 2013
Link: Click Here

There was a major delay in posting the details about the Q1 Result from Money Matters (Capri Global Capital Ltd) from the day when they actually declared the result. The reason was, I wanted to understand the change they have made in showing the results from this quarter onwards. I mailed the company also, regarding the same, but they didnt reply as yet.

Hence finally, I decided to get into it myself, and found out the changes. It was simple.. :-)

If we consider the way they used to declare results earlier, then Revenues have once again jumped 400% from 190 Cr to 836 Cr YoY. (Check Point No. 8 in Press release to get this detail)
But, we wont be considering that method now.
We will start analysing the results according to new method.
The change in method is mentioned in Point No. 7 of Press release which says that "The company was earlier presenting the operating income on Gross Basis showing the sales in Bonds and securities and corresponding purchases and inventory movements seperately. However to reflect the net income generated from such activities, the company has decided to show revenues from operations on net basis from this quarter onwards. According the previous quarter numbers are recasted and reclassified."

This means that according to new method, the terms "Purchase of Traded Goods" and "Purchase of Traded Goods" in Expense section of result sheet, will be deducted firt from Gross Revenues and then, the net revenues will be shown. If one opens the result, he/she will understand this. So, in the result sheet from now on, you will not see any amount in the terms mentioned above, because they are already deducted.
Gross Sales = Total Sales in Bonds + Securities
Net Sales = Total Sales in Bonds + Securities - "Purchase of Traded Goods" - "Purchase of Traded Goods"
Net Sales will be considered as Revenues from now on.

Taking that consideration, lets look into results now.
Net Revenues stands at 34.15 Cr from 27.77 Cr YoY, which is 23% growth and from 33.54 Cr QoQ, which is almost flat.
Net Profits stands at 17 Cr from 13.61 Cr YoY, which is close to 25% growth, but it has come from 22.26 Cr to 17 Cr QoQ.
All in all, seems a good result in bad times.

My Views:I maintain my view here that it is an excellent stock for long term investment. Business is growing steadily, and now with this new collabration with Capri Global Capital, it should grow further. The only problem with this script is that it is very very illiquid. The general behaviour shown by this kind of scripts is that, they start moving up suddenly with volumes, achieve the levels it wants to, and then again goes into silent zone like it is right now.
If one takes my advise, I would say, dont miss a chance to enter the stock, whenever you get one.

  3. Once again, with market under so much of pressure, there is a good oppurtunity to enter AJanta Pharma at levels around 750.
I would again like to mention that don't buy in bulk. Always do investment in parts.
It might happen that it goes down further, that dip can be used to average out.
A company whose almost 66% revenues comes from exports, and not much of foreign debts, should not be much affected by Rs slide...

  5. Hi Siddharth,

We are pretty pretty immature to comment on issues like strengthening of rupee.
The reason being, we cannot think in all those direction that some of the smartest finance gurus think, sitting in the finance ministry.
Its their job and we should live it up to them to come out with different ideas which will help the rupee go stronger in the long term.

For eg., if you read some articles, or go through the, so called famous brokerage houses reports, on what measure should government take to protect the rupee, you will find that they are highly focusing on the fact that government should increase the diesel prices, and that too, by 3-5 Rs/L.
Just think of the situation where government actually takes that step.
No doubt, good thing would be that Current Account Deficit will improve for short term, which will help rupee go up against dollar, but on the other hand, can you imagine the level of inflation that could increase just because of this severe price hike. With increase in inflation, the RBI would be forced to increase the interest rates, and again it will go into the same cycle which will force foreign investors to take their investment out of India, and again, rupee will start depreciating.
So there is no end to it.

The guys sitting in the finance ministry have to take a decision considering all these parameters. (Above eg is also just my thoughts, it might be much much more than just that)

Obviously, with rupee depreciating significantly every day in past week, government might be forced to hike diesel prices, to at least calm down the horrible carnage going on. But you never what will be its effects and side-effects.

This is probably the same situation that occurred in 1991. At that time, we had Manmohan Singh as Finance Minister, whose steps turned the tide, and saved the nation from that terror.
Lets see, who is able to do it for us this time, because, its completely different scenario now, things have changed drastically in past 22 years.
This time, probably, it will be a bigger challenge to get out of this issue, then in 1991.

As you did, I would also like to share 1 link, that represents this scenario very well with impacts in this situation as government, as consumers, and on economy.

    I hope I have helped you a bit. :-)

  13. On question asked earlier regarding foreign exchange policy and hedging at Granules, below is the information that I could collect from management:

    1. Our Debt is primarily dollar-denominated and it constitutes more than 95% of our debt. We have gone with dollar loans since our business is primarily conducted in dollars. This provides a natural hedge for us.

    2. More than a slight majority of our cost of goods is imported and conducted in dollars while the rest is done in rupees.

    3. On a sales front, we have fixed-contracts with our primary customers. These contracts include several variables including adjusting the price when there is a movement in the Rupee and it is revised on a quarterly or semi-annual basis. We are transparent with our customers and like to pass on the benefit to them when possible or have them cover any losses when the rupee moves against us. Our primary focus is to have sustainable margins.

Given the three points, the movement of the Rupee doesn’t have a material impact on our business. We don’t gain a large benefit when the rupee depreciates but on the flip side, we don’t lose much if it appreciates.

  16. Suven Life Sciences has appreciated about 60% from the levels at which it was suggested on this site.
If needed, one can book some profit in this counter.
If the performance continues, we can expect much higher levels, but its always advisable to play safe. Hence some profit booking can be done. (May be about 25%)

  28. While counting illiquid stock for pca, should we count summation of both nse bse volumes or each exchange is separate in this matter?
When stock is added to pca, pca is implied on both exchange that is info i have.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi Vivek,
Yeah, the process is always considering both the exchanges...
And I probably feel, that it is very difficult for stocks in that category to come out of it agian.
Stocks are moved to illiquid category because of lesser trades on that scripts. Placing them into such a category is going to reduce the volumes further.
If their policy is to review stocks every quarter, then I think, Thangamayil Jewellery would be soon shifted to that category, as volumes have been very less since past 2 months.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sold another 10% shares of Ajanta Pharma, hence a total of 30% shares sold now (exclusive of bonus).
The profit booking is not because of the fact that Ajanta is looking weak, but because I want to enter some new scripts that I missed earlier.
But still, I must add that at with P/E ratio close to 24, one has to be careful with this stock.
We will have to keep a watch on it continuously, and check if numbers are being delivered well.
    All the best!!!!!!!!!!!

  32. I had done research and found on bse that if "ALL" the following criteria meet then stock will b included in pca
    1) daily volume less than 10000 in avg in qur
2)daily no of trades less than 50 in avg in qur
    3) if it is illiquid at "ALL" Exchanges where it is traded.
I am holding a share with almost 9000 avg vol and in both nse and bse.... So was worried but avg no of trades are approx 140 at bse so it is not fulfilling last two criteria and now i am not worried.
Give your comment if i got it wrong somewhere.
So , i think volume should not be summed and if one exchange escape.... All is well

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes, they have specifically mentioned that all the criteria has to be met for stocks to qualify in PCA. So, if avg daily trades are about 140, then no need to worry... :-)

  34. If Rs continues to appreciate to 60 levels or below, Ricoh India will be one of the best buys at current levels...

Cera Sanitaryware is also looking like a good investment, but I doubt if it can prove to be a multibagger from current levels. Those who are looking for decent investment, with lesser risk and about 20-30% returns per year, can invest in Cera.
I am saying this, because Cera is one of the rare good stocks, who is trading above its industry P/E, but that is because, its running more on speculations rather than current performance. Hence, few upcoming good results might have already been factored in. I am not sure, but still, looks like a decent investment.

  35. Suven Life Scie - Suven Life secures three (3) Product Patents for their NCEs in New Zealand, Singapore and South Korea

Investors are buying shares of Suven Life Sciences after the healthcare company announced that it has secured three product patents one each from New Zealand, Singapore and South Korea corresponding to the new chemical entities (NCEs). This move might also help them, come out of Periodic Call Auction (PCA) segment, as I got to know, that SEBI is going to revisit the scheme in this week, for coming quarter. Lets hope for the best. I feel, that this script is definitely going sky-rocket sooner or later..

  37. For Granules investors, there is nothing to worry about.
The delivery percentage in past few weeks have been very high, which means that there is a strong accumulation going on.
Just dont panic, and wait for a big jump upwards.
If you see the chart of Ajanta Pharma from Sept 1, 2012 to Jan 21, 2013, you will notice that stock price was very steady. It was continuously hovering around 240-280 levels (adj price) for 5 months, and suddenly now, after 1 year, the price is almost 3 times then sept last year...
Patience will definitely pay, if the company and management is good...
Consistent performance is another big factor, hence we keep us updated every time there is some news on any company, because we are not running their business, hence we have to believe in whatever management has to say, and derive our steps from that...
We will do the same for every company suggested here...
    Happy Investing!!!!
